Here is how it works:
Next Saturday (February 18, 2012) I will be posting part of a cross-stitch pattern. It is your job in the week following to stitch the piece that I give you, and be ready a week later on Feb. 25th when I’ll post the next part of the pattern. There will be 4 parts to the pattern posted over 4 weeks. When you are finished with each section of the pattern you can take a picture of your progress and upload it to @facebook, so we can all keep up with each other’s projects. It’s as simple as that! But here is the fun part, you get to pick your colors and how you want to use them! This is why I’m giving you a week to prepare.
Before next Saturday you will need, a smallish piece of Aida or Linen (enough to stitch 50x50). You will also need 9 shades of the same color thread varying from very light to very dark; that is your hint to stitch the standard project. But this is where your creativity comes in. I might also suggest that each week you choose 9 shades of different colors to complete the parts of the pattern that I post, OR you could just choose 9 random colors and see what you get, OR you could be creative in any way you choose.
Ok, so you might say “Carrie, I have a piece of Aida that will work, and I really don’t feel like going to the store to buy more thread. Is there something else I can do?” And I would say “YES!” If you have a pretty big collection of DMC threads, but you can only find 5 or 6 shades of green that work together, try blending 2 shades to get something in between! For this project you’ll be stitching with 2 strands, so blending 2 together would work great!
Those are the only hints I am giving you. Get your materials, thread your needle, and get ready to stitch-along!
